Winged Elm
Ulmus alata

Height   10-12 m (40-50 feet)

Leaves   4-8 cm (1.5 to 3 inches)

A small to medium-sized tree native to the southeastern U.S. 

The bark is flat with scaly ridges separated by shallow, irregular furrows.
